We are seeking applications for full-time faculty positions in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine of the Greater Washington Anesthesia Network (GWAN), a newly formed independent private-academic practice group serving the District of Columbia’s population at George Washington University Hospital (GWUH).
Regular partnership and faculty appointments (with affiliate partner of George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences) to these non-tenure track academic and private practice-based positions will be made at academic rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) and salary commensurate with years of clinical/academic experience. These positions are expected to begin as early as January 2027.
Responsibilities include delivering excellent patient care, participating in administrative duties, teaching learners, and pursuing scholarly interests. Generalists and those with fellowship training and/or subspecialty expertise in Regional Anesthesiology & Acute Pain Medicine, Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine, Obstetric Anesthesiology, Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology and Transplant Anesthesia are invited to apply.
Position Overview
- George Washington University Hospital (GWUH):
- A 396-bed academic quaternary referral center located in the historic Foggy Bottom neighborhood in downtown Washington DC, minutes from the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. Currently 31 anesthetizing locations, which include Trauma Care, Critical Care Medicine, Acute Pain Service (APS), Transplant Program, Regional Block Service, Non-OR Anesthesia (NORA), Maternal Health, and a free-standing Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
- Resident Supervision (50%), Care Team Model (30%), Solo cases (20%).
- Case Mix: Level I Trauma & Stroke, OB Anesthesia, Cardiac Surgery, ECLS & ECMO program, Liver, Kidney and Pancreas Transplant, ENT, General, GI, GYN, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Gender Affirming Surgery, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.
Position Qualifications
- Applicants must be board certified in Anesthesiology, or in the certification process, and eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment
Compensation
- Total compensation including call $530,000-560,000+
